📖 Reading — Elle Woods: More Than a Blonde
At first, Elle Woods looks like someone who fits a common stereotype. She is blonde, likes fashion, and enjoys being popular. Because of this, many people think they already know who she is. They believe she is only focused on looks and feelings, and they do not expect her to be intelligent or serious. However, this first impression is not the full story.
Elle starts as a confident and positive young woman who believes in love and loyalty. When her boyfriend ends their relationship because he thinks she is “not serious enough,” Elle feels very sad and confused. This moment hurts her deeply, but it also changes her life. Instead of giving up, Elle decides to show that she is capable of more than people believe.
Her choice to study law and apply to Harvard Law School surprises everyone. Many people laugh at her and think she does not belong there. They judge her because of how she looks and how she speaks. In class, some students and teachers do not take her seriously. Even so, Elle does not try to change who she is. She keeps her style, stays kind, and continues to believe in herself.
During her time at law school, Elle faces many unfair situations. People often think that being feminine means being weak or less intelligent. Elle learns that she must work harder to earn respect. Instead of becoming angry, she uses her personality as a strength. She listens carefully, pays attention to details, and understands people very well.
Elle’s success comes from staying true to herself. She shows that intelligence and femininity can exist together. She proves that confidence does not need to be cold or aggressive. By being herself, Elle breaks expectations and changes how others see her.
In the end, Legally Blonde is more than just a funny movie. It is a story about confidence, growth, and believing in yourself. Elle Woods teaches us that people should not be judged by how they look. Her journey shows that strength can come from being authentic and that confidence can change how the world sees you.

💬 5. Opinion Models
I admire Elle because she doesn’t try to become someone else to be respected — she stays true to her style and still succeeds.
The most powerful moment in the movie is when Elle wins the case because it proves that her uniqueness is her strength.
I think the movie is a great example of how confidence and competence are not opposites — you can be feminine and brilliant at the same time.
The saddest part for me is when everyone laughs at Elle on her first day, because we clearly see how judgment affects self-esteem.
I like this movie because it turns a “light comedy” into something meaningful about empowerment and self-worth.

Teacher model: The movie shows that stereotypes don’t disappear — they are destroyed when real results appear.

✅ Use one vocabulary word

Teacher model: The lesson I learn is that confidence is not pretending — it is knowing your value and proving it through action. Elle uses her intelligence and style to break a stereotype. People judged her, but she surprised them.
🎤 8. Voice Task
Record 30–40 seconds answering:
• What do you like the most about Elle Woods?
• How does she change people’s expectations?
• Can you think of a real situation where someone had to prove themselves?
Teacher model (audio idea): I like that Elle never apologizes for who she is. She doesn’t become “less feminine” to be respected — she becomes stronger.
💬 9. Blog Comment Question
📌 Write your answer in the comments section below this lesson.
Write 3–4 sentences. The teacher will give you feedback.
Question:
Do you think Elle had something to prove, or was she just discovering her real potential?
Example comment: I think she started trying to prove something to her ex-boyfriend, but later she proves something to herself. She learns that her value is not based on approval but on effort and skill.

At first, I think Elle wanted to prove to everybody (her boyfriend, her parents and even herself) that she was way more than just a pretty blond girl. But throughout the movie we can see that she was already a very intelligent and kind person and that entering Harvard Law was just her discovering her own full potential.
At the beginning of the movie, I think that she really had something to prove to everyone and mostly to her boyfriend. But with time, she changes her goal and discovers that she was more than just a pretty blonde girl and that she could be a very intelligent and respected person with hard work and dedication.
At the beginning of the movie, Elle is introduced as a main character full of stereotypes. Her boyfriend, parents, friends and even herself can’t see her potential because of her fashion style. When her boyfriend breaks up with her, she decides to prove everyone about her competence, because she wants to be considered a “serious girl”.
After the change of perspective, by the end of the movie, she discovers about her own skills and shows everyone that appereance isn’t related to respect and recognition, it only depends on how you demonstrate your potential.
At the beginning of the movie, she breaks up with her boy friend, who tells her he wants a serious girl. Because of this, she decides to go to Harvard to prove she was a serious person. Arriving at the university, she discovers talents that she didn’t know like logic, legal observation and attention to details.
In the beginning of the movie, everything spins around her relationship with her boyfriend and the end of their relationship. At the first moment, she is trying to prove to her ex boyfriend that she is a serious girl. But, throughout the movie, she goes to Harvard law school, she finds herself, she proves that she was a smart girl and she sees that she doesn’t need to search approval to feel good about herself.
I think that in the beginning she tries to prove something to everyone, and she works hard for it, but in the end, she realizes that she never had to prove anything to anyone.
In my opinion, the movie brings a very powerful lesson about stereotypes and improving yourself. Above all, this movie is about staying true to yourself.
I think that both afirmatives are true, she started trying to prove to her ex-boyfriend that the stereotypes are wrong about her, but in the middle of the story she discovered a potential in herself and she realized that she didn’t need the approval of anybody, she just needed confidence about herself. Because of this I think this movie brings a very important lesson of life and can teach us that value is not based on approval.
I love this movie, I think it was so funny, I watched this movie with my mother and we loved the protagonist (Elle). I think that Elle was a beautiful and smart girl. She was very kind and during all of the movie, she was herself. But at the same time, people thought that she was a dumb blonde girl. The people thought that she was a futile girl and that she was not serious enough. At the beginning, she wanted to prove to her boyfriend that she was a serious girl and not a silly girly girl but, throughout the movie, she discovered herself. In fact, she didn’t need to prove to anyone about her potential. The only thing she needed was to trust in herself.
